Beat the heat: Keep kids cool

Body School is out, and summer break is here, bringing sizzling temperatures. While enjoying the outdoors, it is crucial to stay safe. Between May and September, we need to be vigilant about two significant dangers: dehydration and heat-related illnesses.

Donation aids summer program

Body HAYSVILLE – The Haysville USD 261 Board of Education recently accepted a donation of $2,000 for the district's Summer Exploration and Enrichment (SEE) program. The donation came from the Brian David Higby Fund.

Johnston named teacher of the year

Body GODDARD – Erin Johnston of Discovery Intermediate School was the winner of the Goddard Education Association Teacher of the Year Award. Results were announced at the Goddard School District End of the Year Celebration on May 24.

Hazardous waste event in Haysville

Body HAYSVILLE – Sedgwick County Environmental Resources will host a free household hazardous waste collection event, open to all residents, in the parking lot of Haysville City Hall, 200 W. Grand from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday.
