HAYSVILLE – At 5:27 a.m., on Thursday, July 27, 2023, Haysville Police were dispatched to the area of Grand Avenue and Broadway to assist Sedgwick County Fire and EMS with an unconscious person. At 5:28 a.m., Haysville Police arrived and found an unconscious 39-year-old female inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Jump Start Convenience Store, located at 7200 S.

Plant a Row for the Hungry kicks off its 23rd year in Sedgwick County this month, by asking all gardeners to plant a little extra this season, and share the surplus with those in need throughout the community.

CONWAY SPRINGS – Beginning in August, there'll just be one Conway Springs City Council meeting a month moving forward. At their meeting last week, members of the Conway Springs City Council agreed with a recommendation from Mayor Daryle Smith, who suggested the council look at once-a-month meetings, rather than the two meetings a month that had been the council's practice.

GODDARD – The summer will come to an early end at the Goddard municipal pool. The last day of the 2023 season is this Sunday.

ARGONIA – A free pool party for students in the USD 359 school district is set for Friday night. The back-to-school party will run 6:30-8:30 p.m., and is for students enrolled in Argonia schools and their families.

HAYSVILLE – The 23rd annual Haysville Chamber of Commerce scholarship golf tournament will take place at the end of this month. The tournament will be played on Tuesday, Aug.

GODDARD – Renovations have started at the Goddard Community Center. The building, which was constructed in 1936, is undergoing major renovations that include bathroom updates and changes in the kitchen.

As the temperatures climb into the 90s and above, most trees require more water, but more water means more costs. Kansas State horticulture expert Ward Upham says modifying soaker hoses can help homeowners save a few dollars.
