Following is next week’s menu for Friendship Meals and Meals on Wheels. Monday: Closed – Memorial Day.

Kansas State Research and Extension will hold a tractor safety class for 14and 15-year-olds. The class will start at 8:30 a.m.

CHENEY – After a period of uncertainty in recent years, there's a “lot going on” at Souders Historical Farm Museum west of Cheney these days. That's the word from Michelle Palermo, a member of the Souders family who now is taking an active role in bringing the museum back to life and preparing it for public activities.

GODDARD – Members of the Goddard Chamber of Commerce met on May 11 at Pathway Church, and took a look ahead at happenings planned for the summer. The Goddard Public Library was on the agenda as May's guest speaker.

HAYSVILLE – Members of the Haysville Chamber of Commerce gathered together on May 18 for the monthly membership meeting, which was held at WSU Haysville. This month's featured speaker was Dr.

Hoops camp.

Two local students were among more than 100 Emporia State University students who received special recognition from The Teachers College at the end of the 2022-23 academic year. Twenty-four received outstanding student awards and 96 students were honored for achievement of a 3.8 grade-point average or higher.

WICHITA – The Great Plains Nature Center will host its annual O.K. Kids (Outdoor Kansas Kids) event from 10 a.m.

CHENEY – This is a busy time of year all around the Cheney community, but May has been especially busy for the local Cheney School District. At their recent May meeting, members of the Cheney Chamber of Commerce heard a report on school activities from Cheney High School superintendent Greg Rosenhagen.
