Defense dominated the night as the Goddard Lions topped the Maize Eagles 7-3 last Friday at Goddard District Stadium. The victory helps erase the memories of the Lions’ heartbreaking playoff defeat to Maize last season.
Winter’s 4 TDs lead Cardinals to victory
The Conway Springs Cardinals began defense of their most recent State championship with a 42-0 victory over the visiting Nickerson Panthers. Nickerson is a larger school than Conway Springs, competing in Class 3A while the Cardinals are in 1A.
Patriots shut out Titans to open 8-man season
The Argonia-Attica Titans are looking to regroup after suffering a 46-0 shutout loss to the West Elk Patriots last Friday in Howard. Leading 10-0 after one quarter, the Patriots put up 28 points in the second quarter to take control of the game by halftime.
Owls pick up big home win
A dominating ground game and good defense powered the Garden Plain Owls to a season-opening home win last week on Thursday, as they beat the Trinity Academy Knights 49-14. The Owls racked up 354 rushing yards, with two players topping 100 yards.

Thursday games highlight start of football season
A pair of Thursday night home football games are on the Week 1 schedule, as the 2024 season kicks off this week. The Eisenhower Tigers and Garden Plain Owls both will be at home this Thursday, as both teams look to build on successful 2023 campaigns.
Area teams tip off volleyball season
TSnews Three area volleyball teams did not wait until after Labor Day to tip off their respective seasons, as the Eisenhower Tigers, Goddard Lions and Campus Colts all competed in the Eisenhower pool of the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League preseason tournament last Saturday in Goddard.
Cheney approves golf cart lease
TSnews CHENEY – The Cheney City Council approved a new lease for golf carts at Cherry Oaks Golf Course, which is a city-owned and city-operated facility. The city’s current 48-month golf cart lease for 50 golf carts is expiring in the next few months.
Cannons end Aviators’ season at NBC World Series
TSnews The Haysville Aviators summer baseball team saw its season end last Wednesday with a 6-3 loss to the Kansas Cannons in the opening round of bracket play at the National Baseball Congress World Series.
