TSnews SALINA – The Clearwater Indians and the Wamego Raiders engaged in a marathon of a softball game in their Class 4A State tournament opener last Thursday. The game went 17 innings before Wamego scored a run in the bottom of the 17th to take a 2-1 win over the Indians.

TSnews TOPEKA – The Cheney Cardinals softball team ran into a buzzsaw when it opened the Class 3A State tournament last Thursday against the Silver Lake Eagles.

TSnews WICHITA – The Eisenhower Tigers baseball team struck first, but it was St. Thomas Aquinas who struck last and best as the Saints downed Eisenhower 4-3 in 10 innings last Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the Class 5A State tournament at Eck Stadium.

Goddard soccer coach to depart TSnews The Goddard Lions girls soccer team traveled to Hays for the first round of regional play May 14, losing a white-knuckle game 3-2 in the third overtime. “It was a great game to be a part of; fun to watch,” Lions head coach Josh Hansen said.
