As the weather gets warmer, motorists can expect an increase in motorcycle traffic. With May being Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, the Kansas Department of Transportation and The Drive To Zero Coalition emphasize that cooperation from all road users will help reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on the state’s highways.

The suspension of the rest of the Valley Center Hornets’ high school baseball season will impact one local team. The Eisenhower Tigers were set to play at Valley Center this Friday.

TSnews The Goddard and Eisenhower boys battled for supremacy at the Andover Invitational on April 16, and the Eisenhower girls finished second as well at the 12-team track meet. Goddard scored 115 points, edging Eisenhower by 17 points for the boys’ championship.

TSnews The Campus Colts and Eisenhower Tigers turned in strong performances at last Friday’s Campus track meet at Colt Stadium in Haysville. Campus High’s BreAna Garrett-Tillemans gave the home crowd at Colt Stadium a good show, with gold-medal performances in the 100 and 200 meters and in the 300-meter hurdles.

TSnews Clearwater hosted its second track meet of the season last Friday, with Garden Plain among the eight teams competing. The Garden Plain girls had the best local team finish, as they placed third with 83 points.

Travis Mounts TSnews The Cheney Cardinals and Conway Springs Cardinals took part in the Conrad Nightingale Invitational last Friday in Halstead. It is considered to be a more competitive meet due to a large number of teams.

Travis Mounts TSnews The Argonia Raiders stayed in Sumner County to take part in the Border Queen track and field meet in Caldwell on April 16. The team earn a number of medals, especially on the girls’ side.

Travis Mounts TSnews The Clearwater Indians golf team picked up its first tournament victory of the season, edging South Central by three strokes to win the Medicine Lodge Invitational on April 16. The Indians recorded a 372 team score.

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals boys tennis team won a round robin meet at Chaparral on April 16, powered by a firstplace finish in No. 1 doubles from Riley Johnson and Charles May.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers softball team entered this week on an eight-game winning streak after sweeping a pair of doubleheaders last week. The Tigers swept Arkansas City last Tuesday, 5-2 and 11-7, respectively, then took a pair from Salina Central last Friday, 7-2 and 5-2.
