Lions beat Bulldogs on senior night

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys basketball team ended a solid season on a high note, hosting the Arkansas City Bulldogs on Friday and claiming a senior night win, 64-53. “We had eight different guys score in that game; we were getting production from a lot of different guys,” Lions head coach Blake Myers said.

GP Owls enter substate on hot streak

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls boys basketball team continued its winning streak with a 23-point road win to finish up the regular season, beating the host Belle Plaine Dragons 6340 on Feb. 20.

Caldwell boys end Raiders’ season

TSnews The Argonia Raiders boys basketball team and the Caldwell Bluejays were tied at the intermission of their first-round Class 1A Division II substate game last Thursday, but the Bluejays came through late to earn a 40-33 win. The Raiders end their season at 7-15.

Tigers boys split last two games

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys basketball team split its last two games of the regular season, winning 60-34 at Arkansas City on Tuesday, Feb. 20, then losing 63-44 at Andover Central on Feb.

Indians boys end season

The Clearwater Indians boys basketball team ended its season last Thursday with a 73-26 loss to Wichita Collegiate. With the loss, the Indians finished 5-15, just missing the cut for Class 4A substate play.

Two Tigers take fifth at State

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys wrestling team had a pair of wrestlers finish fifth at the Class 5A State tournament last Saturday at Hartman Arena in Park City. Braedyn Blasi took fifth at 144 pounds, while Lucas Freeman did the same at 215.

The Campus Colts boys wrestling team sent three to last weekend’s Class 6A State tournament at Hartman Arena in Park City, and one came close to coming home with a medal. Julio Sanchez split his four matches at 120 pounds and finished just one win short of a shot at the medal stand.

Swimmers reach goal

Campus High swimmer Vincent Finley, below, and Eli Winter of Clearwater swim one of the 20 miles they completed over the weekend at the 12th annual Swim to a Wish fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The other swimmers were Campus swimmers Quentin Thomas, Jonah Easterby, Seth Sharon and Jonah Easterby. The six swam 120 miles from Friday afternoon through midday Sunday, including going all night Friday and Saturday. Campus swam alongside teams from Derby and Wichita North last weekend at Glenn Crum Natatorium, while Salina Central and Salina South swimmers held their own event. Wichita Northwest will hold a separate event this coming weekend. As of Monday morning, the event had exceeded its goal of $30,000, with $30,273. Donations can still be made online at https:// secure2.wish.org.

Pair of Owls State-bound

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls wrestling team will send a pair of wrestlers to State after placing two in the top three at last Saturday’s Class 3-1A regional at Eureka. “I’m very proud of all the Garden Plain wrestlers this season,” Garden Plain coach Travis Daerr said.
