Goddard boys fall in substate final

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys basketball team ended their season playing in their first substate championship game since Eisenhower High School split off from Goddard more than a decade ago, losing at Kapaun 72-42 on March 1. “We just had no juice, no energy,” Lions head coach Blake Myers said.

Fast start leads Panthers over Owls

TSnews The Independent Panthers girls basketball team jumped out to an 18-3 lead after one quarter in last Thursday’s Class 2A substate semifinal, and beat the Garden Plain Owls 62-29 in Sedgwick. Leading 37-13 at halftime, the Panthers extended their lead with a 17-6 run through the third quarter in the substate semifinal game.

GHS wrestler to take part in Shrine Duals

WICHITA – Zach Wessley, a member of the Goddard Lions State-championship wrestling team, will be part of the inaugural Kansas Shrine Duals. Wessley and the other wrestlers were announced by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association (KWCA).

Attica brings end to Argonia girls’ season

TSnews The Attica Bulldogs girls basketball team held Argonia to just two firsthalf field goals on the way to a 49-29 win over the Raiders last Friday in the Class 1A Division II substate semifinals at South Haven. With the loss, Argonia ends its season with a record of 13-10.

Local players commit to college teams

10 Years Ago Cheney High School senior Paul Frank made the State Honor Choir for the second time in his high school career. Frank was selected through a rigorous process as one of the top 15 tenors in the south-central district of the state of Kansas, which qualifies him for the ultimate honor of being All-State.

Lions back on top of State

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys wrestling team battled through adversity all season – and last Saturday, it paid off in a big way. The Lions had three individual Class 5A State champions and several more who placed high as they won their ninth State title in the last 10 years.

TSnews The Campus Colts and Eisenhower Tigers are sending their girls and boys bowling teams to State, and Cheney qualified its boys team for State for the second time in program history. In addition, individual bowlers from Cheney and Goddard finished as regional champions.
