TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals boys basketball team returned to the hardwood last Thursday for the first time in more than three weeks and looked strong in a 47-26 win over Douglass. “We were happy to finally get back on the court against Douglass,” Conway Springs coach Paul Lange said.

Tori York (105 pounds) pinned her first two opponents in the second round to reach the quarterfinals, where she was pinned by Isabella Gutierrez of Liberal in the first round.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball team finished a few points ahead in a low-scoring rivalry game at Goddard on Jan. 12, 28-25.

TSnews Weather cut the Cheney Cardinals boys basketball team’s schedule in half last week, but the Cardinals performed well in the one game they did play, a 67-37 beating at the Kingman Eagles. The Cardinals made nine 3-point baskets and grabbed a season-high 38 rebounds.

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys basketball team beat the Eisenhower Tigers at home on Jan. 12, 58-55, creating their first twogame winning streak against the cross-town rivals since the schools split.

TSnews The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team found the second time was not a charm Monday night as it fell 41-36 to the West Elk Patriots in the quarterfinals of the South Central Border League Tournament. It was the Raiders’ second loss in four nights to West Elk.

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team got the new year off to the start it hoped for last Thursday with a 59-25 rout of Douglass. The Cardinals led 22-17 at the intermission, but used a strong third period to lead 41-20 going to the fourth quarter.

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls won a close battle at the Medicine Lodge Indians last Friday, winning 49-47. The victory helped the Owls bounce back from a loss earlier in the week against Trinity Academy.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians girls basketball team played a strong first three quarters Monday, but could not hold off a fourth-period surge by Wellington as the Crusaders rallied for a 59-48 win. Clearwater trailed 18-14 after the opening period, but rallied to lead 22-20 by halftime and 35-31 with eight minutes left in regulation.
