CS Athlete of the Week Grace Bender Conway Springs Cardinals Conway Springs pole vaulter Grace Bender is this week’s TSnews Athlete of the Week. Bender, a junior, has placed first twice in the Cardinals’ last three meets.

Conway Springs also competes TSnews The Cheney Cardinals placed second at the competitive Conrad Nightengale Invitational Track meet in Halstead, scoring 92.75 points and finishing right behind champion Smoky Valley (99). The Conway Springs girls placed fifth among 16 teams, giving a strong performance with 54.5 points.

TSnews Garden Plain and Conway Springs sent their track teams to Belle Plaine on April 11 for the Dragon Relays. The Garden Plain Owls came home with a pair of wins.

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls performed well at least Friday’s home participation track and field meet. The Owls turned in several impressive performances, and had multiple placers in a handful of events.

TSnews The Campus Colts swim team won another meet and hit more State-qualifying and State-consideration times during last Thursday’s five-team meet at home. The Colts scored 436 points to finish well ahead of the competition.

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals softball team continued its winning ways by sweeping two more doubleheaders. Cheney took two at Medicine Lodge last Thursday (20-0 and 17-4, respectively), then came home and swept Douglass Monday by scores of 9-0 and 15-0.

TSnews The Campus Colts baseball team seemed to find its groove last week, sweeping a pair of doubleheaders to get on a winning streak. Campus took two at Salina South last Tuesday (3-0 and 3-2, respectively), then rolled to a sweep at Hutchinson last Friday (12-1 and 11-4).

TSnews The Campus Colts girls soccer team had a loss and a tie last week, falling to Salina Central 3-2 on April 11 before tying Buhler 1-1 on April 13. Salina Central is a team the Colts had beaten in tournament play, so Campus went into the home matchup knowing they could be competitive.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls soccer team had two away games last week, and they lost both by one-goal margins. The week started Tuesday, April 11, when the Tigers lost 3-2 at Maize.
