TSnews The new year has been a good one so far for the Garden Plain girls basketball team. The Owls improved to 3-0 in 2026 with a pair of victories last week, including Thursday’s 45-28 win against the Arkansas City Bulldogs at Fugate Gymnasium on the Newman University campus.
The Campus Colts finally kick off the new year with a home invitational this Thursday. Diving will be at 1:30 p.m., and swim events are slated for 5:30 p.m.
TSnews The Goddard Lions bowling team has a nice blend of experience and youth as it heads into a new season. On the boys side, senior Eric Sather returns after qualifying for State last season and will lead the Lions at the lanes.
TSnews Two years removed from a State runner-up finish, the Cheney Cardinals bowling team is looking for another successful season. On the boys side, three bowlers from that team – Andrew Phelps, Maddox Ayres and Riley Ayres – return from that squad, as does Cameron Eastman, who took 10th at last season’s Class 4-1A State tournament as he bowled a 662.
As the new bowling season begins, the Eisenhower Tigers will be battling with three State qualifiers. Junior Jordyn Betschart missed out on a medal by just four spots at last year’s Class 5A State bowling tournament.
TSnews With everybody back from a team that has won the Class 6A State title the last two years, the Campus Colts girls bowling team has one goal this year – a three-peat. The Colts won the State title last season by 150 pins over runner-up Wichita Northwest and return three girls who landed in the top 20 at State – Riley Emerson (third), Angelina Moser (tied for seventh) and Chante Anderson (20th).
The State-champion Campus Colts girls bowling team, coming off their eighth Class 6A title last year, started the new season with a solid victory at Saturday’s Bishop Carroll Baker Bowling Classic. The meet featured 33 girls teams in varsity and junior varsity.
TSnews The Eisenhower and Goddard swim team placed ninth out of 17 teams at the two-day Wichita North tournament, held last Friday and Saturday. The Tigers finished with 106 points.
