The Garden Plain Owls girls basketball team split its games last week, starting with a big 57-21 win at the Rose Hill Rockets. The Owls had a big first quarter with plenty of scoring combined with a good defense as they raced out to a 20-7 lead.

AHS girls 3rd at Border Queen

The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team used a stout defense to pull out a third-place finish at the Border Queen Tournament last Saturday, downing Central Burden 44-19 in the third-place game. “The girls team played solid team ball all week as the scoring was spread out and the defense was phenomenal,” Argonia coach Morgan Grippin said.

Cline takes second to lead Tigers at Douglass

The Eisenhower Tigers wrestling team headed over to Butler County last weekend to compete in the Douglass Goodwill Invitational – and had a few wrestlers place high at the always-loaded event. On the boys side, Blayre Cline (165 pounds) took second, while Abe Starnes (175) took third.

The Clearwater Indians boys basketball team not only got a final-day win at the Kingman Eagle Classic, but the Indians also hit a small milestone along the way. The Indians downed the host Kingman Eagles 55-49 last Saturday in the fifth-place game at the tournament – and in doing so, they surpassed their win total from last season.

The Argonia Raiders boys basketball team’s quest for a Border Queen Tournament title ran into a roadblock last Saturday. The Raiders fell into an early hole and never could dig out of it in a 48-19 loss to undefeated Central Burden in the title game of the tournament.

Pratt edges Cheney for Cardinal Classic crown

The Cheney Cardinals placed second in their Cardinals Classic tournament, picking up two wins before falling 51-48 to the Pratt Greenbacks in Saturday’s championship game. Pratt also held a 3-point margin at halftime, 20-17, and the teams battled closely through all 32 minutes.
