The Clearwater Indians wrestling team logged one of its busiest stretches of the year last weekend, competing at the Wellington Invitational last Saturday, at the Chase County mixer last Thursday and also sending some of its girls to the Douglass Goodwill Invitational last Friday.

The Campus Colts showed why they are one of the top 10 girls wrestling teams in Class 6A by taking second last weekend at the always-tough Douglass Goodwill Invitational. The Colts finished with 173 points, seven behind tournament champion Newton.

The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball team overwhelmed Campus with a barrage of early threes and smothering defense, winning 52-29 on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Campus.

The Clearwater Indians girls basketball team refused to be denied in the finals of the Kingman Eagle Classic last Saturday. Down by six points at the start of the fourth quarter, the Indians held the host Eagles to just two points and rallied for a 35-32 win – and the tournament title.

The Campus Colts and Eisenhower-Goddard Tigers swimming and diving teams recorded top-three performances at the Dec. 11 meet in Haysville.

Eisenhower boys basketball opened its road slate with a comeback win at Campus on Tuesday, Dec. 9, overturning a 10-point halftime deficit to prevail 56-48.

TSnews After dropping their first two games of the season last week, the Garden Plain Owls girls basketball team rebounded for a convincing 62-30 win over the Trinity Academy Knights in Wichita. It was a good response after the Owls lost at Wellington and dropped a home game against Moundridge.

TSnews The Sterling Black Bears, the defending Class 2A champions, looked like they are ready to defend their title as the beat the Cheney Cardinals 6943 at Cheney last week. It was a tough start for the Cardinals, who have a new look after losing a large senior class to graduation.
