TSnews DODGE CITY – Not even going winless at the Class 2A State volleyball tournament could take the shine off the Conway Springs Cardinals’ best season in two decades. The Cardinals wrapped up their season with a trio of losses in pool play at State last Friday at United Wireless Arena, falling to Jefferson County North 17-25, 26-24, 22-25, Valley Heights 11-25, 25-27 and to Oakley 23-25, 25-18, 19-25.

Tigers’ season ends in regional final at Maize South

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys soccer team pushed its postseason run to the brink last week, winning 2-1 in overtime at Emporia on Tuesday, Oct. 28, before falling 3-1 at Maize South in the regional championship two nights later.

Cheney girls 3rd at State; Young places top 5

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls cross country team had four of its scorers place in the top 30, helping them to a third-place finish at the Class 3A State meet at Lawrence’s Rim Rock Farm. Meanwhile, Stratton Young placed fifth as in individual competitor in the boys race, giving Cheney a memorable day in yet another trip to the State meet.

Garden Plain edges Clearwater in defensive battle

TSnews The host Garden Plain Owls defeated the Clearwater Indians 23-6 last Thursday in the final regular- season game for both schools. It was a non-district contest, as both teams kept an eye on other games to see how their overall seeding for the playoffs might be impacted.
