State University Four statues stand in the rotunda of the Kansas statehouse. Three of those statues honor persons whose names are widely known: Aviatrix Amelia Earhart, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and publisher William Allen White.

Newman University officials have announced the students who completed the requirements to earn a degree at the close of the 2025 spring semester. Following are the local graduates, listed by community.

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – The city is continuing to receive more donations for improvements in Central Park. At their meeting last week, members of the Conway Springs City Council announced more donations, this time specifically for work on the park's band shell.

8 Years Ago A large crowd turned out for last Thursday's ribbon cutting and grand opening at the new Haysville Activity Center. The new HAC began operations a month ago, but last week's event served as both a celebration of the facility's completion and a chance to show off the facility for potential customers and residents who paid for the facility with a portion of a sales tax approved in 2015.

HAYSVILLE – There will be a free ice cream social on Saturday. The ice cream social will celebrate the conclusion of another successful year of summer reading.

GODDARD – A male pygmy hippopotamus calf was born at Tanganyika Wildlife Park on the morning of June 26, to parents Pluto and Posie – marking a rare addition to a species with fewer than 3,000 individuals remaining in the wild. The new baby is named Mars.

GODDARD – Two students have been named as the Goddard Education Association Excellence in Education scholarship winners. Beau Brunscheen-Cartagena of Goddard High School and Atticus Christinat of Eisenhower High School are the 2025 recipients. Brunscheen- Cartagena plans to major in psychology and elementary education.
