The Argonia High School golf team made its debut at the recent Wellington High School Invitational meet. In competition with all Ark Valley League schools plus Ponca City and Blackwell, Okla., Randy Meridith of Argonia emerged as the medalist with a low score of 76. The team of Randy Meridith and Frank Gerberding placed second in the two-man competition. Two persons were injured in a three-car accident that occurred on U.S. 160 highway and Pine Street in Argonia. According to the sheriff’s patrol, the drivers of the vehicles were Dwight A. 10 Years Ago Cheney High School alumnus Haley Twietmeyer set a University of Missouri javelin record during the Missouri Relays Saturday in Columbia, Mo. Twietmeyer broke a year-old record with a throw of 16710, beating the old record by three inches, according to the Columbia Tribune.

The April winners of the Conway Springs art class competition have been named, and their artwork is now on display in town. Anna Bender is the winner of the staff vote. Her acrylic piece, “Simple Joe,” pictured at far left, is on display at Vintage Bank. The student vote winner is Audrey Davis. Her mixed media piece, “Oceanic Scene,” at left, can be seen at Conway Springs City Hall.
