TSnews GODDARD – The Goddard City Council voted at its April 1 meeting to delay action on an ordinance that would establish the next steps toward construction of a 108-unit multi-family residential complex in what is the STAR bond district. The next step in the Reinvestment Housing Incentive District (RHID) process is to hold a public hearing and adopt an ordinance authorizing the development and financing plans.

TSnews GARDEN PLAIN – During their meeting on April 3, members of the Garden Plain City Council agreed that the city will take steps to earn a “Tree City USA” designation. Several other cities in the TSnews area participate in the Tree City program and earn the “Tree City USA” honor annually.

TSnews HAYSVILLE – Leaders in the city of Haysville are hoping the second time around on a sales tax vote will bring more favorable results. The city is holding a special election on May 7 to consider renewing a 1 percent sales tax that has been in effect for the past 10 years.

TSnews CHENEY – No, students in Sedgwick and Sumner counties weren’t in the path of a total eclipse on Monday afternoon, but in several cases they certainly made the most of the situation. At Cheney High School, science teacher Bill Block was determined to make as much out of the “partial” situation as possible.

TSnews CLEARWATER – A slightly windy but otherwise pleasant evening greeted art lovers as they came to Clearwater for the annual Art Walk last Friday. Visual artists, crafters and musicians populated several locations along Ross Avenue in downtown Clearwater.

TSnews GARDEN PLAIN – United States Sen. Roger Marshall visited Garden Plain High School on April 4.
