Body Staff Report TSnews ARGONIA – The Argonia City Council approved spending $15,198 for a new computer with integrated controls for the city water plant. The previous computer quit running.

Body Davis Williams of Haysville won Saturday's Run to Cheney 5K race at the Sedgwick County Fair. Williams’ time was 18:01.4. He also placed second in the 1-mile race. Amy Driskill from Haysville was 8th overall and 4th among women in the 8-mile race from Garden Plain to Cheney.

Body SALINA – An accident at a construction site in Salina has led to $333,949 in proposed fines for a Cheney contractor. The fines were assessed following a January trench collapse that trapped two workers.

Body The new $650,000 high school now under construction here is beginning to take shape. Good weather has been an aid to the workmen and the crew is ten working days ahead of schedule.

Body CHENEY – The Cheney Municipal Pool will remain closed until next week. A pump went out on Friday and the pool has been closed since then.

Body From July 1913 Duncan’s Auto Garage was entered between 12:30 and 2 p.m. last Sunday and robbed of about $22, which was taken from the cash register.

Body Staff report TSnews Lake Afton, located in southwest Sedgwick County near Goddard, continues to be on the Kansas Department of Health and Environment blue-green algae warning list. It was moved to the warning list from the watch list on June 22.

Body CHENEY – Saturday will be a movie night at Cheney State Park. There will be an outdoor showing of the classic movie, “The Sandlot,” hosted by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
