HAYSVILLE – The recently-updated five-year strategic plan for Haysville Public Schools was the focus of last Thursday’s Haysville Chamber of Commerce meeting. Jennifer Reed, assistant superintendent for learning services, was the featured speaker, filling in for superintendent Jeff Hersh.

Rural Haysville resident Donna Tibbits was a lead organizer of the Cushman Club of America’s national meet, held at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson from June 11 to 16. Cushmans are motor scooters that were manufactured in the U.S. between 1936 and 1965. Tibbits, who is the president of the Kansas Cushman Club, said a neighbor let her play with a Cushman scooter when she was a young child.

Fire departments receive relief funds

Local fire departments are among the recipients of more than $16.8 million being provided by the Kansas Insurance Department. Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt announced on June 19 that the Kansas Insurance Department has made its annual distribution to local Firefighter Relief Associations (FRAs).
