Thousands attend signature Symphony in the Flint Hills event

WABUNSEE COUNTY – The 2023 Symphony in the Flint Hills event brought a renewed energy to a tradition that has now marked 18 years of performances all across the Flint Hills region of Kansas. Organizers were extremely pleased with the weather, turnout and overall energy at this year’s Symphony in the Flint Hills.

Lake Afton added to advisory list

Lake Afton, located in southwest Sedgwick County near Goddard, has been added to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks' blue-green algae watch list. The lake was added to the watch list on June 15.

Palmer-Witt appointed to Clearwater council

TSnews CLEARWATER – At the Clearwater City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 13, Mayor Burt Ussery moved to fill the council seat left vacant when Tex Titterington was killed in a May 28 car crash. Ussery appointed Shirley Palmer-Witt, a real estate agent with previous experience as a council member.

Goddard council approves community center renovation

TSnews GODDARD – At its meeting Monday evening, the Goddard City Council voted to approve bids for renovations at the Goddard Community Center. The work will include replacing ceiling tiles and vents; installation of new LED lighting; replacing paneling with sheet rock and new paint; widening closets; replacing kitchen cabinets, countertops and flooring; and new bathroom fixtures.

Victim of boat accident moves to rehab

Staff Report TSnews HAYSVILLE – Rielynn Martin, the 10-yearold Haysville resident who was severely injured last month in a boating accident, is now at a rehabilitation hospital. She is now recuperating at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Omaha.
