May 4 is a big day for “Star Wars” fans, as in “May the 4th be with you,” a play on the famous phrase from the movie franchise. That love is often shown in names for pets, according to Trupanion, a company that offers medical insurance for pets. The company scanned its database for the most popular names, pulling from more than 800,000 character names or inspired names that have been bestowed on pets. The top “Star Wars” names are Chewbacca, Luke, Leia, Obi (after Obi-Wan Kenobi), Kylo (as in Kylo Ren), Vader (after Darth Vader) and Wicket, who was one of the Ewoks. The top “Star Wars”-inspired names are Chewbarka, Vader Von Wigglebum, Poe Dameron II Duke of Whales, Bark Vader, ChewBecky, Luke Skybarker, Pug Vader, Furry One Kenobi, Luke Sky Barker, and Darth Meow.

Money to help with heart transplant for Marques Coursey CONWAY SPRINGS – The Conway Springs community is coming together to help one of their own. A fundraiser will be held this Sunday to raise money for Marques Coursey, who at 20 years old needs a heart transplant.

SUMNER COUNTY – The burn ban that had been in effect for much of April in Sumner County was allowed to expire earlier this week. The burn ban expired at noon on Tuesday.

Some rain showers and a few thunderstorms have been in this week's forecast through Thursday. Any rainfall will be welcome, as the area deals with a record dry spell.

GODDARD – The annual Neighbors United event will take place this Saturday. This annual event brings community members, organizations, and businesses together for a day of volunteering.

TSnews On April 11, the Clearwater City Council approved installing a new water valve to accommodate Sedgwick County repair work on the bridge located just east of Clearwater High School. The project will require water to be shut off for a period of time, but currently, there is no valve available to shut off the line near the bridge without affecting the entire city and triggering a boil order.

CLEARWATER – The Clearwater USD 264 Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting for this Thursday. The meeting time was set for 7 a.m.

SUMNER COUNTY – Cowley College’s Sumner Campus in Wellington will host the fourth annual Robotics Challenge on Thursday and Friday. The event has grown every year, and this year it will expand into a two-day event.
