CHENEY – During last week's monthly meeting, the Cheney City Council approved a pair of sidewalk projects. Council members voted 5-0 to accept the low bid of $17,901 from South Central Sealing to pour a 6-foot wide sidewalk on the east edge of the Cheney Sports Complex property.

Joshua Ritter, a Viola resident and recent graduate from Butler Community College, has earned the title of Kansas State Champion for Microsoft Office Specialist. He will represent the state of Kansas in the U.S.

GODDARD – Members of the Goddard Chamber of Commerce gathered last Thursday at Pathway Church for their monthly meeting. Members heard updates on the SummerBall Showdown, which will be played again later this summer at the Genesis Sports Complex.

GODDARD – Several new faces are expected to be on the Wichita City Council next year, as two of three incumbents seek other offices. But one possible new face is a familiar one to longtime Goddard residents.

CHENEY – A pair of Cheney Elementary student teams dominated the state of Kansas playing a stock market game this year.

Humanities Kansas (HK) has announced the release of “Wild Words,” a booklet featuring poems and illustrations inspired by native Kansas wildflowers.
