City of Goddard purchases license plate cameras

TSnews GODDARD – At its meeting Monday, March 20, the Goddard City Council unanimously voted to lease 11 high-tech cameras that will capture vehicle license plate, make and model information for use by the Goddard Police Department. Police chief Lance Beagley noted that the cameras, which are manufactured by Flock Safety, will not be used to catch speeders or people running red lights.

Blood drives in need of donors

Spring is here. As the seasons change, the American Red Cross is reminding the public that the need for blood doesn’t take a break. Blood remains at risk of running low this month. Donors are crucial to helping the Red Cross avoid a blood shortage in the weeks to come.

Extension A Kansas State University doctoral student is reporting results indicating that freezing and thawing beef doesn’t impact a consumer’s eating experience, compared to eating the same product fresh. Erin Beyer presented her results during K-State’s 110th annual Cattlemen’s Day on March 3.

Cheney Chamber makes donations

CHENEY – The Cheney Chamber of Commerce is using some of its reserve funds to help important causes around the community. At their March meeting, members of the local Chamber group approved a donation to help robotics students from Cheney Middle School compete at the national level.

Next CS City Council meeting cancelled

CONWAY SPRINGS – Because of staffing changes at City Hall, the next Conway Springs City Council meeting, scheduled for March 28, has been cancelled. The next council meeting will be the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 11.
