Raiders drop opener to Bulldogs

TSnews The Argonia Raiders boys basketball team could not quite dig out of an early hole in last Friday’s season opener against Pretty Prairie and dropped a 59-49 decision to the Bulldogs. “We did take the loss against Pretty Prairie, but we learned a lot,” Argonia coach Jacob Callaway said.

TSnews In the fourth quarter of the Class 1A State championship football game, the Conway Springs Cardinals were in control with a 34-6 lead. The Cardinals had scored first, fallen behind for a little more than five minutes, then regained the lead and began running away with the lead.

Colts start season with second-place finish

The Campus Colts swimming and diving team began the season with a second-place performance at home in a six-team competition split between the “haves” and the “have nots.” Derby edged Campus 404-340, while Bishop Carroll was third with 324 points. Those three teams dominated the other half of the field, comprised of Wichita North (71 points), El Dorado (65) and Southeast of Saline (24), which was by far the smallest school there.

Battle-tested Hays is too tough for Tigers

TSnews The Hays Indians played a schedule in 2024 that was as tough as any schedule in Kansas. They faced down both Derby and Manhattan, two 6A teams that just had a heavyweight fight for a spot in the Class 6A title game.

Cardinals make return to State, will defend 1A title

TSnews Another solid playoff game performance has the Conway Springs Cardinals in position to win their ninth State football title in school history. The Cardinals punched their ticket for the 2024 Class 1A State championship with a 55-22 home victory over the Valley Heights Mustangs.

Soccer players named to AVCTL all-league

With the 2024 boys soccer season now complete, the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League has published its all-league soccer selections. In Division II where Eisenhower and Goddard play, the Tigers’ Ty Harris, a senior defender, was named to the first team.
