TSnews Before the season, it was expected that the top Class 5A boys golf teams would be from the Wichita area. That was the case, as the top three teams at this week’s State tournament all hail from south-central Kansas.

Kimberlyn Grim, a Norwich High student who competed during the season with the Campus Colts and Clearwater Indians through the Colts’ cooperative program, made her State debut at the Class 5-1A meet last week in Topeka.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians girls track and field team have to feel good about their chances going into this week’s Class 4A State track and field meet. The girls placed second at last Thursday’s regional in Towanda, scoring 84 points.

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls won the girls and boys 2A regional championships at Marion last Thursday. The girls dominated the the 14-team field, scoring 107 points to finish 35 points ahead of runner-up Remington.

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls track and field team showed its skill and depth at last Friday’s Class 3A regional, which was moved from Nickerson to Buhler due to weather conditions. The Cardinals finished second with 80-1/3 points, coming in behind Beloit (103-1/3).

TSnews The Colts girls track and field team had a good showing at last Friday’s Class 6A regional, which took place at Garden City. Two different Colts qualified for State in three events each, helping the Colts to a fifthplace tie as a team.

TSnews The Goddard Lions will take part in the Class 5A State meet this week at Cessna Stadium at Wichita State University. The Lions are sending a total of 11 athletes to State.

TSnews With 76.5 points, the Eisenhower boys track and field team placed third at last Thursday’s Class 5A regional meet at Maize South. The Tigers edged past Hutchinson by just 2.5 points.
