Lions sit out last week due to weather

The Goddard Lions track and field team did not compete last week, opting to pull out of the Ark City Invitational on Thursday. Goddard joined Andover Central and Winfield in not competing in the meet, which was plagued by rain.

CS track readies for Chaparral meet

Inclement weather led to the cancelation of last Friday’s Wellington track meet, leaving the Conway Springs Cardinals track and field team idle for the week. The meet was set to feature Sumner County teams Belle Plaine, Caldwell, Mulvane, Oxford and South Haven, along with Rose Hill from Butler County.

TSnews The Goddard Lions baseball team picked up a pair of wins from former league rival Maize South last Tuesday, taking the first game of a doubleheader 13-6 and the nightcap 7-1. The Lions used a seven- run third inning to erase an early deficit in taking the opener.

Softball

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals suffered their first loss of the softball season last Thursday when Wichita Trinity came to town and took the first game of a doubleheader by a 10-3 score. The visiting Knights capitalized on 10 Cardinals walks and five errors, despite getting just six hits in the game.

Goddard Lions lose 2

TSnews The Goddard Lions girls soccer team was shut out in two losses last week, losing 1-0 to Valley Center on April 25, then losing 5-0 at Andover on April 27. The Valley Center game was a tie until midway through the second half, when the Lions gave up a foul about 25 yards from the goal.

Colts lose in final minutes at Newton

TSnews The Campus Colts girls soccer team played at Newton on Thursday, April 27. With less than 5 minutes left in regulation, the Colts were tied 1-1 with the Railers, but Newton netted two late goals to take the game, 3-1.

EHS girls win Salthawk Invitational

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls track and field team won the team championship at last Friday’s Salthawk Invitational at Hutchinson’s Gowans Stadium. The Tigers scored 120.5 points, beating runners-up Maize and Garden City by 29.5 points.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls soccer team went 1-1 last week, beating Salina Central 10-0 on Tuesday, April 25, before falling 3-1 at Andover Central on April 27. Mackenzie Jordan had a hat trick during the blowout versus Salina Central.
