TSnews The Derby Panthers’ running game was in high gear as the Panthers defeated the host Campus Colts 55-0 in Haysville last Friday. The loss dropped the Colts to 0-2 this season.
TSnews The TSnews coverage area’s three boys soccer teams competed in the Goddard-Campus tournament last week. The teams all took positives out of the week, and all finished with 2-1 records across three games.
TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls golf team continued its winning ways by winning two more tournaments, taking first last Tuesday at Medicine Lodge and also winning the Pratt Invitational on Monday. Cheney won the nine-hole tourney at Pratt with a score of 207, two strokes ahead of the host Greenbacks and five ahead of Larned.
TSnews For the first time in six years, the rivalry game between the Garden Plain Owls and Conway Springs Cardinals was decided by more than a touchdown. The Owls dominated the line of scrimmage in the first half, building up a 25-6 lead.
TSnews Friday’s “Roar on 54” crosstown rivalry between the Goddard Lions and Eisenhower Tigers was a long, ugly contest, with numerous TV time outs as the game aired on regional cable, as well as a seeming constant rain of yellow penalty flags. The game ended with nearly 40 penalties.

The Clearwater Indians faced some challenges in the rain at Rose Hill last Friday, where they lost 23-0. All of the Rockets’ points came in the first half of the game.
The Campus Colts had a good start to Friday’s season-opening football game at the Junction City Blue Jays, trailing just 7-3 at halftime. But things did not go nearly as well in the second half in a 48-3 loss.
The Cheney Cardinals took a second half lead on the road at the Holcomb Longhorns, but lost 15-13 in last Friday’s season-opening football game. The Cardinals have a number of new varsity starters, including at several key positions, and are still settling into their new roles, said head coach Shelby Wehrman.
Brayden Pappas delivered two highlight reel moments in last Friday’s season opener, but it was not enough as the Eisenhower Tigers opened the 2025 season with a 38-28 loss at the Valley Center Hornets.
