Tennis teams start 2025 season

TSnews Three out of four boys tennis teams in the TSnews coverage area started their seasons last week. Conway Springs hosted a home quadrangular, winning first place and besting squads from Chaparral, Hutchinson Trinity and McPherson.

Teams compete at delayed Clearwater meet

TSnews The weather was much kinder on Monday, when Clearwater High School hosted Cheney and Conway Springs, along with other teams, in the Indians’ season-opening participation meet. The meet was moved from last Friday, when weather conditions were not conducive to a track meet.

Teams open track season at Eisenhower

TSnews A big contingent of athletes took part in Monday’s Eisenhower participation track and field meet. The meet has been slated for last week, but was rescheduled to Monday to avoid cold and wet weater.

Lions go 1-2 in tournament

TSnews The Goddard Lions girls soccer team played three games at home last week, competing in the tournament they co-host with Eisenhower. The Lions lost their first two games before rebounding with an 8-0 win over Wichita West.

Tigers dominate in tournament

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls soccer team competed in the annual tournament it hosts with Goddard last week. The Tigers won in dominating fashion, scoring a total of 16 goals across three games while giving up none.

Colts win Titan Classic tournament

TSnews The Campus Colts competed in Wichita South’s Titan Classic girls soccer tournament last week, coming through two games that went to shootouts and winning their first in-season tournament title in at least seven years. The title run started April 1 with a 9-0 win over the host Titans.

Goddard beats Campus in overtime

The Campus Colts girls soccer team hosted the Goddard Lions on Thursday, March 27, losing 1-0 in overtime. Windy conditions made it challenging for either team to get their offense going, and regulation concluded with a 0-0 tie.

Tigers beat Valley Center

The Eisenhower Tigers girls soccer team faced Valley Center on March 27, winning 6-0. “We played extremely well,” Tigers head coach Roger Downing said.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians baseball team currently has a 5-1 record after splitting a twin bill against Rose Hill last Thursday – losing the opener 11-7 and taking the nightcap 6-2 – and sweeping a pair of games at El Dorado on Monday, taking the opener 5-1 and the second game 7-4. Easton Carter, Gage Clevenger and Jake Wright each had three hits in last Thursday’s opener, while Carter and Clevenger drove in two runs apiece.

Softball

TSnews The Clearwater Indians softball team got the season off to a strong start by sweeping a pair of doubleheaders. The Indians took two from Rose Hill last Thursday, 11-0 and 1-0, respectively, then swept a twin bill at El Dorado on Monday, 13-3 and 8-3.
