The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team used a strong defense to rally from a seven-point halftime deficit and defeat Wichita Collegiate 41-37 in the third-place game at the Mulvane Wildcat Classic last Saturday.

TSnews A first-round victory over the Manhattan Chief homeschool boys basketball team secured the Goddard Lions’ fourthplace finish in the Bluestem Classic midseason tournament in El Dorado last week. The game versus Manhattan Chief was played Thursday, and the Lions won 46-39.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians boys basketball team could not have picked a much better way to conclude the Chaparral Roadrunner Classic last Saturday. The Indians downed the Belle Plaine Dragons 52-37 in the seventh-place game at the Chaparral Roadrunner Classic, not only wrapping up the rugged tournament with a win but also earning their first win of the season.

After nearly two weeks off, the Cheney Cardinals and Garden Plain Owls girls basketball teams are anxious to return to the court. They will do that starting on Thursday as they take part in the Haven Wildcat Classic, which runs through Saturday.

The Conway Springs Cardinals are the No. 2 seed at this week’s Mulvane Wildcat Classic girls basketball tournament.

The Goddard Lions girls basketball team will play Thursday through Saturday at the El Dorado Lady Cat Classic. The Lions open the tournament at 7:45 p.m.

TSnews The Campus girls and boys bowling teams swept Newton and Andover in a Jan. 21 triangular.

The Eisenhower and Goddard swim team competed at Wichita North on Jan. 21, placing fourth out of five teams with 235.5 points.

TSnews The Campus swim team had a great performance at last week’s Derby invitational, held at Campus’ Glen Crum Natorium. Cash Pegg-Westerhaus qualified for Class 6A State in the 50-yard and 100yard freestyle races, and set a new school record in the 50.

The Campus Colts’ season-long struggles continued in three losses at last week’s Ralph Miller Classic in Chanute. The Colts were competitive in Saturday’s 63-52 loss to the host Chanute Blue Comets.
