Indians shine at Remington

With the end of high school wrestling’s regular season just ahead, the Clearwater Indians might be peaking at the right time. The Indians competed at the Remington Bronco Invitational last weekend and did well, with the boys taking second and the girls finishing fifth.

The Clearwater Indians and Eisenhower Tigers basketball teams were idle last week. The Indians returned to action on Tuesday with a road trip to the Circle Thunderbirds.

Argonia stays hot, beats Oxford

The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team followed up its third-place finish at the South Central Border League Tournament by downing visiting Oxford 47-36 last Friday. The Raiders led just 17-15 at the intermission, but outscored the visitors 13-8 in the third period to take a 30-23 lead to the fourth quarter.

Campus girls finish fifth at Mulvane

The Campus Colts girls basketball team added two more wins to their season total, and earned a fifth-place finish at the Mulvane Wildcat Classic. The Colts wrapped up the tournament with a low-scoring victory over the Winfield Vikings, 29-23.

Owls pick up a win at Haven

The Garden Plain girls had a tough three days at last week’s Haven Wildcat Classic, going 1-2 but salvaging a victory in the seventh-place game as they beat the Maize Eagles 35-27. It was a low-scoring, tight first half as the Owls went into the locker room with a 12-11 lead.

Cheney Cardinals go 2-1 at Wildcat Classic

With a 2-1 record, the Cheney Cardinals girls basketball team salvaged their trip to the Haven Wildcat Classic with a fifth-place finish. The Cardinals found themselves on the consolation side of the bracket, an unfamiliar spot for them, after dropping their first-round game.

Cheney does well at weekend tourneys

The Cheney Cardinals wrestling team had a strong performance last weekend as all of its wrestlers finished in the top five at tournaments in Garden Plain (boys) and Fredonia (girls). As a team at Garden Plain, the Cardinals finished ninth with 62 1/2 points, 4 1/2 behind the host Owls and more than double the point total of 10th-place Hesston- Moundridge.

GP Owls host invitational

The Garden Plain Owls found home to be sweet as they had two wrestlers win their respective weight classes last Friday at the team’s own Bill Brown Invitational. As a team, the Owls finished eighth with 67 points, 4 1/2 ahead of ninth-place Cheney.

Campus’ Letterman bowls perfect 300 game

Brayden Letterman literally could not bowl any better than he did in a game Saturday at the Great Plains Invitational. Letterman had perfect 300 game at the big tournament, held on the Campus home lanes at Let’s Roll Seneca.
