TSnews The Eisenhower and Goddard swim team went to its first-ever meet last week, competing at Maize. The Tigers placed seventh out of 13 teams, a good showing for a team debut.
TSnews The Campus Colts won at Salina last Thursday, their first team victory of the season. The meet is co-hosted by Salina Central and Salina South but is scored twice – once with each of the home teams.
TSnews The Goddard Lions boys and girls wrestling teams opened their seasons last weekend with a pair of tournaments, with the girls at Pratt last Friday and the boys at Gardner- Edgerton the next day. On the boys side, the Lions finished sixth at the Gardner-Edgerton Invitational with 136 1/2 points, seven behind fifthplace Liberty, Missouri and 7 1/2 points behind fourth-place Lincoln East of Nebraska, led by two champions and five more in the top eight.
The Goddard Lions girls basketball team opened its 2024-25 campaign with a win at home versus Augusta, 46-44. “It was a close one, but we got it done,” Lions head coach Jeremy Heim said.
TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys basketball team had an 11-point lead to start the fourth quarter of its season opener versus Maize South on Friday, Dec. 6.
TSnews The Andrew Gower era is off to a good start at Conway Springs, as the Cardinals downed Medicine Lodge 41-36 in his first game as the team’s girls basketball coach. “It was good to get the first win – and what stood out to me the most was how we played team defense and our level of conditioning showed,” Gower said.
TSnews After suffering a tough season-opening loss last week on Thursday, the Garden Plain girls basketball team bounced back for a 56-54 win at the Trinity Academy Knights on Friday. The Owls led the Knights at the end of each of the first three quarters, going into the fourth quarter with a 45-40 lead.
TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball team faced Maize South in their season opener on Friday. After a quick start, the Tigers were outscored decisively in the game’s second half, losing 66-47.
The Conway Springs Cardinals rallied from a 9-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter to force overtime, but could not complete the comeback as they fell 53-50 at home to Medicine Lodge in last Friday’s boys basketball season opener in a battle of two of the top teams in Class 2A.
