Fast start boosts Derby over Campus Colsts

Body TSnews A quick start to last week’s Class 6A first-round playoff game helped the host Derby Panthers to a 62-7 win over the Campus Colts. The undefeated Panthers had three kick returns for touchdowns, and returned other kicks inside the Colts’ 20-yard line.

Owls tame Bulldogs for a second time

Body TSnews Meeting up for the second time in less than three weeks, the Garden Plain Owls football team beat the visiting Douglass Bulldogs 48-0 last Friday to open the Class 2A playoffs. The Owls won 44-0 at Douglass just two Fridays prior to the rematch.

Runners compete at State cross country

Body TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys cross country team ran at the Class 5A State meet on Saturday. Wet conditions impacted runners in all three classes that competed at Rim Rock near Lawrence.

Cheney to get rematch with Collegiate

Body TSnews The Wichita Trinity Knights drew first blood in last Friday’s Class 3A playoff football game at the Cheney Cardinals, scoring on an 89-yard touchdown pass. The next time the Knights found the end zone, they trailed by 57 points.

Colts soccer wraps season

Body TSnews The Campus High School boys soccer team concluded its 2024 season with a first-round regional loss at Liberal on Oct. 29, 7-0.

Eisenhower boys make it to State

Body Other runners qualify as individuals TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys cross country team placed second at the Class 5A regional to qualify the entire team for this Saturday’s State meet. The Tigers scored 66 points, finishing just five points behind champion Valley Center.

Raiders qualify for State

Body TSnews The Argonia Raiders punched their ticket to the Class 1A Division II State volleyball tournament for the second year last Saturday with a thrilling three-set victory over Attica in the substate finals at Attica. Argonia downed the host Bulldogs 23-25, 25-16, 25-23.

Tigers, Lions conclude soccer seasons

Body TSnews The Goddard Lions and Eisenhower Tigers boys soccer teams lost first-round regional games Monday evening to conclude their 2024 seasons. Facing Maize South, the top seed in Class 5A West, the Tigers took the game to double overtime before losing 2-1.
