TSnews The Goddard Lions, Eisenhower Tigers, Campus Colts, Clearwater Indians and Conway Springs all ran on Saturday at Trinity Academy’s Wild Wind Festival, a high school and middle school cross country meet. The Tigers were the top finishers in the boys and girls 5K varsity races.

Tigers protect record with come-from-behind win

TSnews It took a comeback effort on homecoming night, but the Eisenhower Tigers maintained their unblemished record with a 21-17 win against the Andover Trojans. The Tigers are 5-0 and in third place in the Class 5A West standings.

After blowout, Cards prep for biggest game yet

TSnews Following last Friday’s home football win, the Conway Springs Cardinals are in position to take control of Class 1A District 7. The Cardinals beat the Trinity Catholic Celtics 35-0 to improve to 2-0 in district play and 5-0 overall.

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls volleyball team headed to western Kansas last Saturday to compete in the Scott City tournament and came away with second place after winning four of five matches. The Owls beat Wheatland/ Grinnell 23-25, 25-13, 25-12, Lakin 29-27, 25-14, Norton 25-20, 2521 and the host Beavers 25-19, 26-24, but fell to Lebo 25-21, 22-25, 24-26 in the championship match.

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls golf team got a nice boost of confidence last Tuesday as it heads into the season’s home stretch when it won the Pretty Prairie Invitational. The Cardinals won the tournament by shooting 200, nine strokes ahead of second-place Mulvane.

Cheney to host golf regional

Cheney will be the site of a Class 3-1A girls golf regional on Monday. The tournament will be at Cherry Oaks Golf Course, which has hosted numerous regional and State tournaments, and hosts annual tournaments for the Cheney and Andale-Garden Plain golf teams.

Regional assignments set for XC runners

Cross country teams learned last week which regional meets they will be competing in on Oct. 26. At each regional, the top three boys and girls teams will advance to State meets. In addition, the top 15 individuals not on a qualifying team also will run at State. That makes for 12 teams of five to seven runners plus 60 individuals advancing to each State meet.
