TSnews The Garden Plain Owls topped the visiting Kingman Eagles 38-21 last Friday to put themselves in position to win the Class 2A District 5 championship. The Owls are 3-0 in district games with their final district game this Friday.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians football team’s path to a home playoff game was most likely blocked by last Friday’s 35-0 home loss to the Collegiate Spartans. The Indians and Spartans were locked in a close game, with the Spartans scoring in each of the first two quarters for a 14-0 halftime lead.

TSnews After a close, comefrom- behind win the previous game, the Eisenhower Tigers left nothing to chance in last Friday’s 47-13 road win against the Arkansas City Bulldogs. It all came down to details, said head coach Darrin Fisher.

TSnews Trailing 14-12 at halftime at Sterling, the Conway Springs Cardinals outscored the Black Bears 29-0 in the second to win 41-14. The win preserves the Cardinals’ perfect 6-0 record.

TSnews The visiting Hutchinson Salthawks put up 35 first-quarter points en route to a 50-0 victory over the Campus Colts last Friday on homecoming night. The Salthawks added a second-quarter touchdown, and scored a touchdown and a 2-point conversion in the fourth quarter.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians volleyball team turned in another strong week on the court and also had a pair of players earn some special achievements. First of all, the Indians took second at the Council Grove invite, beating Santa Fe Trail 25-16, 25-10, the host Braves 25-11, 2515, Jefferson West 25-11, 25-15 and Wamego 25-23, 25-19, but falling to Clay Center 26-28, 25-27.

TSnews The Argonia-Attica Titans suffered their second loss of the season and first defeat since Week 1, falling 28-12 at the Central Christian Cougars in Hutchinson last Friday. Turnovers hurt, as the Titans threw two interceptions in just eight pass attempts.

TSnews For the second time in three games, the Goddard Lions’ offense put up a ton of points in an important Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League game. Goddard went to Salina and beat the South Cougars 61-10 last Friday.

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals were firing on all cylinders in last Friday’s 75-7 home win over the Chaparral Roadrunners. The Cardinals had their highest point total since a 74-46 win over Sedgwick in 2017, head coach Shelby Wehrnan’s first season, and it appears to be the most points they have scored going back to at least 1993.

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys soccer team hosted Augusta Tuesday, Oct. 8, winning 4-1.
