TSnews After suffering a tough season-opening loss last week on Thursday, the Garden Plain girls basketball team bounced back for a 56-54 win at the Trinity Academy Knights on Friday.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball team faced Maize South in their season opener on Friday. After a quick start, the Tigers were outscored decisively in the game’s second half, losing 66-47.

The Conway Springs Cardinals rallied from a 9-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter to force overtime, but could not complete the comeback as they fell 53-50 at home to Medicine Lodge in last Friday’s boys basketball season opener in a battle of two of the top teams in Class 2A.

TSnews The Argonia Raiders boys basketball team could not quite dig out of an early hole in last Friday’s season opener against Pretty Prairie and dropped a 59-49 decision to the Bulldogs. “We did take the loss against Pretty Prairie, but we learned a lot,” Argonia coach Jacob Callaway said.

TSnews When the Conway Springs Cardinals defeated the Centralia Panthers 41-6 on Nov. 30 in the Class 1A State championship game at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson, they accomplished far more than winning a State title.

TSnews In the fourth quarter of the Class 1A State championship football game, the Conway Springs Cardinals were in control with a 34-6 lead. The Cardinals had scored first, fallen behind for a little more than five minutes, then regained the lead and began running away with the lead.

The Conway Springs Cardinals turned in a dominant performance in the final game of a perfect season, defeating the Centralia Panthers 41-6 in the Class 1A championship on a chilly Saturday night at Hutchinson’s Gowans Stadium.

The Campus Colts swimming and diving team began the season with a second-place performance at home in a six-team competition split between the “haves” and the “have nots.” Derby edged Campus 404-340, while Bishop Carroll was third with 324 points.

TSnews The Hays Indians played a schedule in 2024 that was as tough as any schedule in Kansas. They faced down both Derby and Manhattan, two 6A teams that just had a heavyweight fight for a spot in the Class 6A title game.

TSnews Another solid playoff game performance has the Conway Springs Cardinals in position to win their ninth State football title in school history. The Cardinals punched their ticket for the 2024 Class 1A State championship with a 55-22 home victory over the Valley Heights Mustangs.
