New format for football playoffs

Body TSnews Small school football teams in Kansas will be seeded differently going into this year’s playoffs. The recently-announced changes from the Kansas State High School Activities Association will impact schools in Class 3A and the smaller districts.

Lions move into tie for 1st with league win

Body TSnews The Goddard Lions went on the road and beat the Arkansas City Bulldogs 437. The win improved the Lions’ record to 6-1, and it also moved the Lions into a three-way tie on top of the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div.

Owls clinch district with shutout

Body TSnews The Garden Plain Owls secured their second straight district championship by going on the road and shutting out the Douglass Bulldogs 44-0 last Friday. This also is the second time in three years under head coach Todd Rice that the Owls have won a district title.

Down at halftime, Cards rally to stay perfect

Body TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals wrapped up Class 1A District 7 with a 34-21 home win over the Ellinwood Eagles, overcoming a first-half deficit. Down 15-14 at halftime, the Cardinals went ahead with a pair of third-quarter touchdowns.

Titans get right with win over Ashland

Body TSnews Coming off the season’s second loss, the Argonia-Attica Titans got right with a convincing 45-0 shutout win over the visiting Ashland Blue Jays in Attica. The Titans put up 26 first-quarter points to take over last week’s game early.

Jaguars down Tigers, create logjam in AVCTL

Body TSnews A fourth-quarter touchdown for the Andover Central Jaguars resulted in a 27-26 win over the visiting Eisenhower Tigers. The Jaguars jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead, with the second touchdown coming on a long pick-6 interception.
