Lions compete at Stampede

It has become a holiday tradition in recent years for the Goddard Lions wrestling teams to wrap up the pre-holiday portion of their schedules at the Kansas City Stampede. This year was no different, as the Lions were in Kansas City, Mo.

Colts have several place in tourneys

The Campus Colts boys and girls wrestling teams wrapped up the pre-holiday portion of their schedules last week, with the girls heading to Wichita North last Friday for a tournament and the boys competing the next day at the Bishop Carroll Invitational.

Argonia girls win pair of close games

The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team did not lack for exciting, nail-biting games last week, winning a pair of contests by a total of three points. After beating Cunningham 26-25 last Tuesday, the Raiders followed that up by rallying late to beat South Barber 33-31 last Friday.

Owls fall to Moundridge, lose key player

A key injury changed the course of last Thursday’s game between the Garden Plain Owls girls basketball team and the visiting Moundridge Wildcats. Midway through the third quarter of an even game, the Owls lost junior Claire Rolfs to a season-ending knee injury.

Colts play well vs. Newton

The Campus girls played their most competitive game of the year to start last week, losing 44-38 to the visiting Newton Railers. The Colts got off to a slow start, falling behind 16-3 early on.

Lions fall to Salina Central, Hutch

The Goddard Lions girls basketball team lost two last week, falling at home versus Salina Central, 43-33, on Tuesday, Dec. 12, then losing a tighter battle, 46-41 on the road at Hutchinson.

Eisenhower girls struggle on offense

The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball team lost two very different games last week: a tight battle, 33-30 at Valley Center on Dec. 12, then a blowout at home, at the hands of a highly-praised Andover squad, 70-24.

Owls compete well, but drop pair of duals

The Garden Plain Owls wrestling team fought hard last Thursday in a pair of home duals against Cheney and Chaparral, but ultimately came up short in both. The Owls lost to Chaparral 42-26 and to Cheney 48-30.

Conway Springs girls split games

The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team started the week strong as the Cardinals sprinted out of the gate last Tuesday and rolled to a 60-17 win over Caldwell. Conway Springs (2-4) led 26-2 after the opening period and never looked back against its Sumner County rivals, leading 33-9 at the intermission and 49-11 to open the fourth quarter.

Garden Plain boys fall at Ell-Saline

The Garden Plain Owls basketball team came up just a little short against the Ell-Saline Cardinals, falling 50-43 in one of last week’s games between teams from the Central Plains League and the Heart of America League.
