With two victories last week, the Cheney Cardinals girls basketball team improved its record to 6-0. The Cardinals squeaked past the Trinity Academy Knights 43-42 on Tuesday, and then rolled over visiting Bennington 44-13 last Thursday.

Lions beat Salina Central, fall at Hutch

The Goddard Lions boys basketball team went 1-1 last week, winning at home versus Salina Central on Tuesday, 64-55, then falling at Hutchinson on Friday, 62-50. Hosting Salina Central, Lions head coach Blake Myers said his team played well and held the lead throughout the game.

Raiders earn first win of Callaway era

The Argonia Raiders boys basketball team’s 63-47 win over Udall last Saturday in the fifth-place game of the Border Queen Tournament at Caldwell was doubly good for the Raiders. Not only was it Argonia’s first win of the season, it also was Jake Callaway’s first win as head coach of the Raiders.

The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball team won its second game of the season versus Maize on Friday, 38-33. It was a low-scoring game with both teams struggling to shoot.
