The Conway Springs Cardinals boys basketball team gathered some momentum last week as it picked up a pair of wins to get to .500 on the season. The Cardinals beat Caldwell 42-30 last Tuesday, then scored a 50-28 win over Inman last Friday in the Heart of America- Central Plains League Challenge.

The Clearwater Indians boys wrestling team finished 2023 on a strong note as the Indians took second last Friday at the Marion County Duals, going 4-1 on the day.

Clearwater Indians senior Elizabeth Tjaden broke the 1,000-point mark in her high school career. She achieved that mark last week during the Indians’ 68-18 blowout victory at El Dorado. She led all scorers with 32 points, and added 9 rebounds. She is pictured with her parents and grandparents.

The Eisenhower Tigers wrestling team will take some momentum into the holidays after the boys team finished sixth last Saturday at the Emporia Winter Classic. The Tigers finished with 105 points, two behind fifth-place Wichita East and four behind fourthplace Topeka.

The Cheney Cardinals wrestling team wrestled in four duals last week, winning two and losing two. Last Monday, the Cardinals headed to Ellinwood and split, downing the host Eagles 34-30, but falling to Haven 56-19.

It has become a holiday tradition in recent years for the Goddard Lions wrestling teams to wrap up the pre-holiday portion of their schedules at the Kansas City Stampede. This year was no different, as the Lions were in Kansas City, Mo.

The Campus Colts boys and girls wrestling teams wrapped up the pre-holiday portion of their schedules last week, with the girls heading to Wichita North last Friday for a tournament and the boys competing the next day at the Bishop Carroll Invitational.

The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team did not lack for exciting, nail-biting games last week, winning a pair of contests by a total of three points. After beating Cunningham 26-25 last Tuesday, the Raiders followed that up by rallying late to beat South Barber 33-31 last Friday.

A key injury changed the course of last Thursday’s game between the Garden Plain Owls girls basketball team and the visiting Moundridge Wildcats. Midway through the third quarter of an even game, the Owls lost junior Claire Rolfs to a season-ending knee injury.

The Campus girls played their most competitive game of the year to start last week, losing 44-38 to the visiting Newton Railers. The Colts got off to a slow start, falling behind 16-3 early on.
