Raiders one win away from State

TSnews After years of struggling to find success on the hardwood, the Argonia Raiders boys basketball team now finds itself one win away from a trip to the State tournament. The Raiders moved one step closer to State last Friday when they rallied for a 62-49 win over the Minneola Wildcats in Class 1A Division II substate semifinal action at Minneola.

Conway Springs opens substate with win

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals boys basketball team shook off a slow start to steadily pull away from Marion in the Class 2A substate opener last Friday at Conway Springs High School and ultimately take a 56-43 win over the Warriors. Marion jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, but the Cardinals responded with a 12-2 run to end the opening period and take a 12-9 lead.

Tigers boys split final week games

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys basketball team split its final week of the regular season, falling 72-68 to Andover Central at home on Tuesday, Feb. 24, before closing with a 67-55 win over Arkansas City on senior night Thursday, Feb.

Colts’ Evans wins State with perfection

TSnews Campus wrestler Elayna Evans wrapped up one of the most impressive seasons in the history of Kansas girls wrestling when she capped an undefeated season at the Class 6A State tournament last weekend in Overland Park with a State title at 190 pounds – the first Colts girls wrestler to do so. Evans finished her season 36-0, including winning all three of her State tournament matches by first-round fall.

The Cheney Cardinals boys bowling team will competed in the Class 4-1A State bowling tournament this week. The Cardinals won the regional at Bowlero Northridge on Friday.

Lions take second at State

TSnews High finishes at the State wrestling tournament on the boys side and the Goddard Lions have become synonymous. For the 11th time in the last 12 years, the Lions finished in the top two at the State tournament, taking second at the Class 5A State tournament at Hartman Arena in Park City with 131 points, 38 1/2 behind State champion Basehor-Linwood.

Benge’s triple lifts Cardinals over Trinity

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals boys basketball might have earned its most dramatic win of the season last Tuesday when it won 40-39 at Wichita Trinity. Trailing 39-37 in the closing seconds, Eli Benge drained a 3-pointer ahead of the buzzer to give the Cardinals an exciting win.
