Golf roundup: Tigers win first two tournaments

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls golf team started its season with a bang by winning its first two tournaments of the season last week. The Tigers won the nine-hole Derby Invitational last Tuesday with a score of 183 – 21 strokes ahead of runner-up and host Derby – then won their own invite the next day at Auburn Hills Golf Course with a score of 380, 41 strokes ahead of second-place Goddard.

The Eisenhower Tigers boys soccer team opened the season Aug. 29 with a 2-0 victory at Maize. Jayden Eckerman and Truman Hinton scored the goals, assisted by Austin Flesher and Luis Alfaro, while goalkeeper Jack Loibl made six saves.

Titans steamroll Patriots in home opener

Cardinals battle tough competition at Marysville

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals volleyball team did not back down from a stiff challenge last Saturday when it opened the season at the intensely rugged Marysville tournament in northeast Kansas. Cheney went 1-3 at the tournament, with all three losses coming against ranked competition.

Andale-GP competes at 4A Girls State Preview

TSnews The Andale-Garden Plain girls golf team got its season off to an early start, competing at the 4A Girls State Preview last Thursday at Carey Park Golf Course in Hutchinson – the first area team to hit the course this season. Andale-GP took 14th in the rugged 16-team field with a score of 422.

Wallace heads to Arizona to work on hoop game

TSnews Logan Wallace takes his basketball career seriously – so it should be no surprise he was willing to move 1,000 miles from home to enhance his chances of playing at the collegiate level and beyond. After playing his first two years of high school basketball at Cheney, Wallace will continue his basketball career at Phoenix's PHH Prep in Arizona.
