Aviators open week with come-from-behind win

TSnews The Haysville Aviators baseball team entered this week with a 7-5 record after an up-and-down stretch last week. The Aviators split a two-game series at home against the Hutchinson Monarchs last Tuesday and Wednesday, with Haysville winning 6-5 last Tuesday and the Monarchs winning 11-8 the next day.

Curve turns in strong week

TSnews The Kansas Curve collegiate baseball team took an 8-3 record into this week after winning four of its five games last week. The Curve beat the Wellington Heat 1-0 last Tuesday, then downed the Mulvane Patriots 11-6 two days later.

Family offers update on coach

GODDARD – Eisenhower High School softball coach Amber Brunswig is moving into a hospice, according to an update provided by her family. The coach suffered a cardiac event in early June, and updates have been shared on the Eisenhower Tigers softball team Facebook page.

Curve suffer 2-game skid

TSnews The Kansas Curve summer collegiate league baseball team suffered its first two losses of the season last Friday and Sunday, falling to the El Dorado Walnuts 8-7 last Friday and the Mulvane Patriots 8-5 on Sunday. Last Wednesday, the Curve beat the Park City Rangers 7-6.

TSnews The Haysville Aviators summer collegiate league baseball team won three games in a four-contest stretch to enter this week with a 5-2 record. The Aviators beat the Wellington Heat 10-9 last Wednesday and the Kingman Islanders 18-2 the next night, then split a doubleheader on Sunday with the Newton Rebels, taking the opener 13-4 but dropping the nightcap 10-1.

The Kansas Curve summer collegiate league baseball team is off to a strong start. The Curve were undefeated after last weekend, downing the Bartlesville (Okla.) Indians 9-2 last Tuesday at Eck Stadium in Wichita, then beating the Indians 7-0 three days later in Bartlesville.

Lions earn pair of medals at State

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys track and field team took a large group of athletes to last weekend’s Class 5A State meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita, medaling in two events at State. Leading the way was Connor Koonce, who took seventh in the pole vault with a vault of an even 12 feet, while the 4x100 relay team of Jaden Cohens, Erik Olivas, Kyler Mashaney and Kaiden Stroot finished eighth with a time of 43.04 seconds.
