Filling Ingredients 3 eggs 1 1/2 cups dark corn syrup 3/4 cup brown sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon allspice 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 cups pecans, chopped Cobbler Ingredients 1 1/2 cups flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon ginger 1/4 teaspoon cloves 1/2 teaspoon salt 8 tablespoons butter, cold 3/4 cup buttermilk (I used milk with a touch of vinegar) 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 1/2 cups carrots, shredded Directions Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Butter a seven-by-10-inch baking dish, and set it aside.

Dr. W.M. Roth came here from Kansas City on Friday and is now located in Conway Springs for veterinary practice. Dr. Roth graduated from Kansas City Veterinary College on April 8, having completed the full four-year course.

9 Years Ago Oatville Elementary School will see another round of work this summer as the Haysville School District’s bond projects move toward completion. Much of the work in the $59 million bond was done last summer or will be done this summer, all to minimize disruptions to students.

A serious fire started from a car which was being repaired at the Bringer Implement Co. at about 6 o’clock last evening, resulting in a badly burned arm for John Hartle, the burning of one car, and extensive damage to the building, fixtures, and machinery repairs. The fire started and spread from Gene Wartick’s Chevrolet, which Mr. Hartle had been working on.

USD 261 to offer free summer meals

HAYSVILLE – Haysville Public Schools will be offering free breakfast and lunch to all children, ages 1-18, who live within the USD 261 boundaries. The summer meals program will run May 26 through July 30, and will be served at Haysville Middle School and at Campus High School.

Lake Afton remains on warning list

SEDGWICK COUNTY – Lake Afton remains on the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) blue-green algae warning lists. KDHE and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks issued the warning.
