As part of the America 250 celebration, the Sumner County Historical & Genealogical Society, Wellington, will host “Disbelief and Declaration: Americans’ Road to Independence,” presented by Wichita State University professor, Dr. Robert Owens.
CLEARWATER – Next Wednesday, Clearwater public schools will host their Fine Arts Finale, a year-end event at Clearwater High School. Events get underway at 5 p.m.
SEDGWICK COUNTY – Residents of Sedgwick County will be able to dispose of e-waste items over the course of two weekends this month. Sedgwick County will collect e-waste April 23-25 and again April 30-May 2 at the Sedgwick County West Yard, located at 4701 S.
HAYSVILLE – One of the more interesting and exciting classes offered at area high schools might be the meteorology class at Campus High School. The class got started four years ago and deals with the science of weather and how it works.
CHENEY – The annual Cheney Fire Department Car Show is being planned for the first Saturday in May, and members of the Cheney Chamber of Commerce continued to discuss the group's involvement with the event during the Chamber's monthly meeting last week.
CLEARWATER – During its meeting April 14, the Clearwater City Council unanimously adopted two resolutions moving the senior center expansion into its next financing phase. The first resolution authorizes construction of the improvements; the second authorizes the sale of general obligation temporary notes, Series 2026A, in an amount up to $600,000.
HAYSVILLE – The Haysville City Council at its meeting on April 13 approved the city’s 2026 street program, which expects to resurface approximately 50,000 square yards of streets. One of the concrete projects will address one of the city’s busiest destinations – the Haysville Activity Center.
