From April 1930 The local school placed second in the most complete high school county scholarship contest ever held in Sumner County. Conway Springs students who were medal winners in the entire contest, competing against all other students in the county were: Pauline Lange, tied first in English II; Otis Brubaker, first in English III; Leo Freund, first, Lucille Young, second, and Ralph Hopper, third, in algebra; Pauline Lange, first, and Maxine Purcell, second in Latin; Otis Brubaker, second in Constitution; Luther Shetlar, tied for first, and Viola McCool, third in Latin I; Elizabeth Gwin, third in geometry; Norma Myers and Hester Davis, tied with two others for second in Foods I; Clark Evans, second, and Olive Burchinal, third in music, Donals Small, tied for second and Claude Gray, third in agriculture; Otis Brubaker, first, Mervin Myers, second, and Lloyd Bradshaw, tied for third in physics.
