8 Years Ago USD 261 Haysville has been honored with two national awards recognizing teachers and staff for creating a safe environment where students are connected and eager to learn. The district received the Flippen Group's 2017-2018 Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase School Award for all 10 schools and the new Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase District Award.

From April 1930 The grade school operetta “On Midsummer’s Day,” presented Tuesday night at the school gym, was a splendid success. The children were from the second through the seventh grades with a between- act specialty by the eighth-grade girls.

HAYSVILLE – Tuesday is election day for voters in the USD 261 Haysville School District boundaries. On the ballot is a $79.725 million bond that would provide money for a long list of expensive improvements at buildings across the district.

Advance voting is available at the Sedgwick County Election Office, 510 N. Main, Suite 101, in Wichita.

GODDARD – The Goddard City Council voted at its March 25 meeting to annex Hawkins Lane, which is the dirt road that leads visitors to Tanganyika Wildlife Park. The city has discussed this annexation for several years.

CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Art Walk is back, and celebrating its 10th edition. The free, family-friendly event will take place 6-9 p.m.

SUMNER COUNTY – Sumner County Planning and Zoning members unanimously approved a short form plat near Conway Springs at its March 12 meeting. The planned subdivision, called the Zerner Addition, covers just less than 95 acres in the 800 block of North Ryan Road, sitting on land northeast of the corner of Ryan Road and 80th Avenue North.
