A story in last week’s issue about the March 17 Goddard City Council meeting (published on March 20) made a reference to a city moratorium on duplex developments. The council directed city staff in September 2024 to create a duplex moratorium policy but the matter later was tabled and a moratorium was never adopted.

Halagains to expand into space next door

TSnews GARDEN PLAIN – It has been a good two years for Halagains Bar and Woodfire Kitchen in Garden Plain. In fact, business has gone well enough that the locally-owned restaurant will soon be expanding into the space next door to the north.
Halagains owners Shad and Stephanie Biggs recently purchased the former Talarico’s Pizza location, which is next door to their restaurant. They are planning an expansion that will allow them to seat more people as well as allow faster service to diners. Contributed photo

Newspapers in Our Schools is a cooperative effort between The Times-Sentinel/ Haysville Sun-Times and area businesses that are generously assisting with the cost of printing additional newspapers each week to provide one paper for each classroom in our coverage area – Cheney, Clearwater, Garden Plain, Goddard and Haysville. Our goal is to help connect local students with their communities, and provide a direct connection between our schools and the community newspaper.

Sailing club seeks history help

CHENEY – The Ninnescah Sailing Association, based at Cheney State Park, has a rich history but much of that history is hidden in photo archives that are likely years or even decades old. The association is asking people to dig out their photos for a slideshow that will be put together for an anniversary event planned for Aug.

As egg prices continue to increase in grocery stores, Kansas State University food scientist Karen Blakeslee said it might be beneficial to consider replacing eggs in certain recipes. Blakeslee said the type of egg substitute to choose depends on the end product and the function it needs to provide.
