Register of deeds office to open in Haysville

HAYSVILLE – A full-service satellite office for the Sedgwick County Register of Deeds will open March 16 in Haysville City Hall. Register of Deeds Tonya Buckingham and chief deputy Kenly Zehring attended Monday’s city council meeting to announce the new office.

Nicked pipe caused Argonia boil order

ARGONIA – A nicked pipe was the cause of a boil order that impacted the City of Argonia to start this month. City officials said that a crew from Wheatland Electric was working on a project when a water main was inadvertently hit.

Gorges earns Rudd scholarship

Lucy Gorges found out last week she is going to have most, if not all, of her college education covered by one scholarship. Gorges, a senior at Cheney High School, found out last week she is going to receive an $80,000 Rudd Foundation Scholarship.

SEDGWICK COUNTY – Many property owners in Sedgwick County are balking at increases in the county appraisals of their property. The deadline to appeal is quickly approaching, and the county has a pair of videos to help with making an appeal.

Tornadoes touch down in Sumner Co.

Last week brought an early reminder of the danger that spring weather in Kansas can bring. Two tornadoes touched down in Sumner County last Thursday, causing sporadic damage in the southwest part of the county.
