TSnews CHENEY – The Cheney Chamber of Commerce has a good start on its veterans banners and yard signs, but the deadline for families to get involved is fast approaching. The banners, featuring local veterans and information about them, will be hung on Main Street for Veterans Day in November.

CONWAY SPRINGS – The May winners in the Conway Springs High School art class competition have been named and now are on display. Sophomore Aliette Potts was chosen for her ceramic piece “Fairy House.” It will be on display through the end of the month at Vintage Bank.

Merger passes on second vote

Staff report TSnews CHENEY – The membership of Farmers Cooperative Elevator Company has approved a merger between the cooperative and Kanza Cooperative. The vote, which took place last Thursday in Cheney, was the second attempt to approve a merger between Cheney-based Farmers Cooperative and Kanza Cooperative, which is based in Iuka in Pratt County.

Live music to highlight Vintage Market

Staff report TSnews GARDEN PLAIN – The fourth annual Garden Plain Vintage Market will take place this Saturday, with live music highlighting the festivities. Blane Howard, an independent country recording artist from Arkansas and based in Nashville, will perform starting at noon.

Ingredients 16 ounces long pasta (I used whole wheat spaghetti) 1 pound ground beef 2 tablespoons ginger paste 8 to 10 cloves garlic, minced salt and pepper, to taste sesame seeds and green onion, for garnish Sauce Ingredients 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup soy sauce 1/2 cup beef broth/stock 5 tablespoons hoisin sauce 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1/2 teaspoon pepper Boil the pasta according to package directions and drain. While the pasta cooks, brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until it is cooked through.
