Ava Don (Emigh) McGeary, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Visitation with family will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at the First Christian Church, 524 Wood Ave., Clearwater.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne McGeary; parents, Lawrence and Vernie (Field) Emigh; and infant sister, Connie Emigh.
Charles Robert Bales was born on April 10, 1940, in Wichita, and he passed away early Friday morning, May 15, 2026, after a courageous fight with cancer.
He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Debbie Bales; his daughter, Darla (Leo) Larkin; his step-daughters, Tracy (Vaughn) Smith, Shannon (Greg) Woods, and Amy Wingert; and 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He proudly served our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
Richard Leon Walker, son of John H. Walker and Ruth D. Brown (Lehner), was born on Sept. 23, 1934, in Cheney, and died on April 30, 2026.
Richard was baptized on Nov. 25, 1934, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Cheney, and confirmed on March 21, 1948, also at St. Paul’s, and was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Wichita, at the time of his death.

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mom, Mary Joslin, at the Parkway Nursing Home in Edwardsville, Kan., on Jan. 11, 2026. Born on July 29, 1937, Mary was the last surviving child of the eight children born to Charles and Sarah Steinbacher.
Mary grew up with her siblings on a farm near South Mound, Kansas, where she quickly learned the value of a strong work ethic, discipline and love of family.
Mildred ‘Millie’ I. (Hickey) Barbo passed away Friday, April 24, 2026, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born to William Lauren Hickey and Margaret Marie Best on February 1, 1939, in Two Buttes, Colo.
Millie grew up in Cheney, where she graduated from high school. She married Vic Barbo on June 5, 1964, in Meade, Kan. She worked for Cessna Aircraft and was a bookkeeper for Barbo Well Service. She was a grandma to many and loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished time spent with family, her dogs and NASCAR.
Barry A. Bennington, age 85, passed away on April 27, 2026 at his home in St. John, Kan., due to pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born on Jan. 27, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., the only child of Hugh and Jessie (Long) Bennington. Barry graduated from Cheney High School, Cheney, Kan., in 1959 as salutatorian of his class. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served three years (1963-65) in the USMC Reserves.
Dee Hachenberger, 85, died April 25, 2026, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born June 22, 1940, in Lyman, Neb., to Abraham Bravo and Delphina (Cordova) Agoitia.
Doris (Brisbin) Wagoner, age 86, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026.
