Cody Shane Spencer, born July 10, 1988, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Thursday, May 7, with family present from 5:30-7 p.m., at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary in Clearwater. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, at The Clearwater Community Church, 450 N. 4th St., Clearwater.

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mom, Mary Joslin, at the Parkway Nursing Home in Edwardsville, Kan., on Jan. 11, 2026. Born on July 29, 1937, Mary was the last surviving child of the eight children born to Charles and Sarah Steinbacher. 

Mary grew up with her siblings on a farm near South Mound, Kansas, where she quickly learned the value of a strong work ethic, discipline and love of family.

Mildred ‘Millie’ I. (Hickey) Barbo passed away Friday, April 24, 2026, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born to William Lauren Hickey and Margaret Marie Best on February 1, 1939, in Two Buttes, Colo.

Millie grew up in Cheney, where she graduated from high school. She married Vic Barbo on June 5, 1964, in Meade, Kan. She worked for Cessna Aircraft and was a bookkeeper for Barbo Well Service. She was a grandma to many and loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished time spent with family, her dogs and NASCAR.

Barry A. Bennington, age 85, passed away on April 27, 2026 at his home in St. John, Kan., due to pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born on Jan. 27, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., the only child of Hugh and Jessie (Long) Bennington. Barry graduated from Cheney High School, Cheney, Kan., in 1959 as salutatorian of his class. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served three years (1963-65) in the USMC Reserves.

Gregory Harold Lange, age 75, of Conway Springs, passed away on April 16, 2026, at Ascension Via Christi-Wichita after complications related to pancreatitis.

Greg was born on May 21, 1950, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, to Harold Lange and Elaine (Mathis) Lange. He graduated from Conway Springs High School with the class of 1968 before attending Kansas University.

Darlene (Quimby) Horinek, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026, after a long and difficult battle with dementia.

A celebration of life will be held on June 12, in Ponca City, Okla. Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be 5-7 Friday, April 24 with family present at Webb Shinkle Mortuary Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at Clearwater United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Tjaden, Jr.; parents, Vivian and Viola (David) King; son, Roger Tjaden; grandchildren, Kim Steiner and Kurt Waterson; and siblings, Cecil King and Dorothy Eis.

Patrick James Ternes, 65, died Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita.

Pat was born July 21, 1960, in Wichita, the youngest son of Jacob Michael Ternes and Frieda Rose (Ast) Ternes. He grew up in Conway Springs, where he attended St. Joseph Catholic School. He attended Conway Springs High School and graduated with the class of 1978.
